When choosing a professional to take care of your pest protection needs, it’s important to ask the right questions. Remember that you are hiring the company and the termite protection professional to do a job for you. If you were an employer in the marketplace, you would ask specific questions before making a new hire. It is to your benefit to treat pest management professionals as if they are a new hire.

I found a great list of Termite Control Interview Questions and will share them with you here:

1)  What Types of Pests do your treat for regularly? Do You Specialize?

It is possible that your termite control specialist has more than one area of expertise, however, it is not recommended to hire a Interview Checklistpest management professional to treat termites who has no expertise in that area. There are many forms of pest control and it is important that your professional is familiar with the chemicals being handled as well as the pests those chemicals are intended to treat.

2) Have you been Licensed and Bonded in Arizona?

Each state has their own set of rules and regulations when it comes to material handling. The chemicals used in one state may be against the regulations of another. With the economy the way it is, many people have moved to other states to find work. A professional licensed and bonded in another state may not be qualified to offer the same services in your town.

3)  Do you have different service plans? Is there a discount for two or more plans?

Many pest management companies offer additional services such as lawn care. Some companies provide separate contracts for termite control and pest management, treating them as two different services. It is important to know what is covered under your plan and whether discounts apply.

4)  Do you have contract limitations? Is there a cancellation Policy?

There is nothing worse than signing up for a contract that has no exit policy. Many contracts require at least a one year term of service and cancellation may incur a fee. When homeowners sign a contract that involves a termite bond or other insurance, the policy may be carried by a national carrier. When that is the case, a pest management professional may incur a cancellation fee and have no choice but to pass that fee on to the consumer.

5) What organic options are offered and how does that affect insurance and bonding?

Organic pest control is offered by most professionals, however, there are still insurance companies that will not honor a policy unless it is for a certain type of approved treatment. When the policy says “Approved Treatment” be sure that your pest management professional has explained the details of those terms.
